Embarassing as it may be, I'll have to postpone the next comic update for another three days. I hope to post new pages on Thursday, until then please don't leave us. @_@ I know it sucks having to wait for new pages for so long, however due to my work and my general lack of organization I could not managae to edit the new pages just yet! I am honestly very, very sorry...
PS, Tarito Fairytale is now available in German book- and comic stores. Please check it out! There's a mention of Yanlin in the book, also. :)
August 27th 2008 ~ DrunkDuck
Just a short notice to let folks know The Tale of Yanlin is now also available on DrunkDuck. This does not really mean anything for readers of this website, as you get full access to everything about Yanlin right here - however, those of you with DrunkDuck accounts might be interested, for now you can express your love for this webcomic by recommending it to other DD users and stuff. Spread the love!
It seems Yanlin can not stand up to her father very well...
I haven't disappeared!
I'm very sorry for skipping the Thursday update like that, everyone,
I currently have a freelance gig I'm working on - unfortunately, due to this, the updating schedule for my comic has to come second. As a result, this comic is also going on a (very short) hiatus, updates will resume on Monday, the 1st of September.
I will be back with new pages by that date, until then I thank you for understanding!
On the upside, I've got an exclusive vote incentive for you this week:
Top Webcomics: A never-seen before teaser for my upcoming publication Tarito Fairytale, which will hit German book and comic stores on August 29 (My birthday! Woohoo!), put together by yours truely. You're the first to see the inside of this comic, other than my editors, that is! :) Buzz Comics: Continuing last update's dress-up scheme - Yanlin wearing a Qipao (also known as China Dress).
On a closing note, this site is a member of the Rubifruit Banner Exchange, a linking program dedicated entirely to websites by and for women! Lots of webcomics just as cool as this one are listed here, so why not click the banner below and check some of them out?
(Incidentally, the more people click the banner, the more my own banner is displayed on other sites, so... click on it please? :^D You know you want to!)
New vote incentives have also been posted! Top Webcomics:Sketch of Yanlin wearing a Kimono Buzz Comics: ...and one of her wearing a Vietnamese Ao Dai (and a funny hat).
It's fun to treat my heroine like a dress-up doll! It must be my girly side breaking through. To be fair, traditional Asian garments are fun to draw, and stylish to boot! I love that "stylish" and "pompous" never excluded each other in that part of the world, you can't really say the same thing about the many epochs of European fashion and aesthetics in general. (It is a mystery why nowadays nouveau-rich Chinese decorate their houses with our terrible golden chandeliers and whatnot. x_x)
So, finally, the new pages are here. Again, I am very sorry for the delay. I'm too unorganized for my own good!
On a related note, somehow, the first chapter has gotten quite a bit longer than was planned originally. (Which brings us back to my lack of organization, I guess...) We are almost at page 40 and important things have yet to happen - I do hope you readers are still with me?
See you all on Monday!
August 14th 2008 ~ On short notice
I'm very sorry everyone, but due to some unexpected plot twists I have to postpone today's update until tomorrow. @_@ Please don't be angry! Even though with a doctor appointment, chores having piled up over the week and a free beer party, tomorrow will be a busy day as well, I will definitely squeeze the update in for you, I promise!
Why do I have to do my taxes why why why. I see those forms and I want to cry. Again, I only have one vote incentive for this update:
Top Webcomics: My attempt at a photo-realistic CG of Yanlin. I wanted to draw a background too, but uuh. ;_;
I try to maintain a two-updates - three pages rythmn with this comic. The last four updates went like 2 pages - 2 pages - 1 page - 1 page, so it evens out, I guess. On Thursday it will be time for another two page update, though! See you then.
And to those of you who missed the August 1 update, do not miss the vote incentives! If everyone votes, you can all help make this comic greaaat~
There's also a new link in the links section, check that out as well.
Good night~
August 1st 2008 ~ Vote incentives
Mucho importante! As of today, I am running vote incentives on both, Buzz Comics and Top Webcomics. That means by voting for this comic (by clicking on the buttons to your right) you get access to special gift pictures I upload for you. Also, you can vote every day, although there will not be new gifts every day. However, if you are feeling generous... :3
Current incentives:
Buzz Comics: An early character sketch of Yanlin in color, with some musings on the character.
Top Webcomics: Another early sketch, also colored.
The heat makes it hard to concentrate on work these days. I can pretty much only draw with a bucket of cold water right under my drawing desk. I stick my feet in it -> instant cool-off! (Gotta be creative when you don't have an air conditioner.)
Unrelated: Thanks to my friend for pointing out that 'commissions' is spelled with two m's rather than one, will have to fix that. Ahem...
The traveler introduces himself. But, does that name sound familiar?
Yesterday, I knocked over a bowl with seafood, spilling oil over my desk and, stupidly, my Wacom tablet. I was able to clean it up OK, however, the freaking PEN also caught some oil and has since stopped working properly. Maaaybe I will need to buy a new one.
Today, I knocked over my ink bottle, spilling black ink EVERYWHERE, including on a comic page. Oh, and the carpet. Maybe I'll need a new carpet, too!
(PS, as you can see I added a comments function to this site, so you can comment on the comic or say hello to me or sumthing. I always love to hear from my visitors!)
Donate and get this wallpaper. =)
